Fall 2005 Membership Drive/Skills
Tournament
- Skills
Tournament/Skills Day will occur during (or later in the evening of)
Onsite Registration Day 8/13.
- Dan Sarkozy has volunteered to host a Goalie and Shooting
Clinic
- David
Rockstraw suggested that players signup for the clinics/Skills tournament
during the day at Registration, then return that evening for the actual
event (due to the heat)
- Tom Kellner (Membership Coordinator) has suggested a
membership drive 2 weeks before registration begins. Possibly reward existing players for bringing
in new players to the league (with a token?/money/gift
certificate?). Each existing member
that brings in a new member will be entered into a final drawing for a
major prize. The registration forms
(both online and hard copy) will be updated to designate REFERRAL
information.
- Tom
also suggested giving flyers regarding LCIHA to the kids to give to their
teachers directly (instead of going indirectly through the Principal of
the school).
- Emma
volunteered to put together a LCIHA newsletter (on an
has-time-to-do basis). She will
have an initial newsletter for Registration day.
Equipment needs
- Phillip
Zakahi has volunteered to inventory our equipment and distribute a list of
existing equipment, sizes, conditions (good, fair, poor) to board
members. He will make
recommendations regarding what Goalie gear needs to be purchased for the
upcoming season.
- Up to
$500 will be spent on Youth equipment packages.
- An
Equipment Manager is needed to keep track of all equipment and to
check-out/check-in youth equipment packages. Youth packages may be purchased at the
end of the season for a discounted price (TBD).
New USE Agreement
- Tom
King submitted the new USE agreement to the city on 6/24. This year the agreement is really an
Application process. LCIHA’s request for funding from the city was
increased from $4000 to $6000. The
funds will be used to increase pay for referees, purchase youth equipment,
and offset operating costs.
Status of New Boards
- Tom
King reported that the County and the City are still negotiating
acquisition of the boards belonging to the County. The latest word is that the County is
willing to trade the Boards for a new baseball field on the East Mesa.
The City is currently evaluating the cost.
- On July 1, 2005, the
$30,000 approved in the City budget for the LCIHA will be available.
- Andrew
Lucht (owner of New Mexico Skate) proposed that
LCIHA purchase his “ice court pro surface” for $20,000. After evaluation by both the city and
LCIHA board members, the offer was rejected.
Miscellaneous
- Pat
Coughlin is assembling a Coach Training and Guidelines program. He will distribute to Board members for
their approval on completion. The
definition of what is “a coach” may need to be included in the by-laws
- USA
Hockey requires a background check on all coaches. Derrik will confirm that all current
coaches have gone through the USA Hockey AXIOM check
- Written
Playup definition and guidelines will be
included in the Registration Package/Form.
Tom King will devise the wording.
Possibly something on the Registration Form that states – “LCIHA
Board reserves the right to condense divisions….”
Voting

up to $500 for Youth equipment – unanimously approved

Zakahi to inventory existing equipment, give status report of condition
