LCIHA BOD MEETING MINUTES

 

TIME/PLACE:  Farley’s, LC, NM Friday 6/4/04 6 PM

 

PRESENT: Cyndy Clark, Chris Christeson, Pat Coughlin, Jill Williamson, Tom King, JP Rodriguez, Ray Meyer

 

MINUTES:

·        New elected and volunteer positions:

o       The following were approved by the BoD:

§         Secretary – Jill Williamson

§         Youth Board Member – Philip Zakahi

§         Fund Raising Committee Members: Cyndy Clark, Dennis, Laj-Liz Downey, Jill Williamson, Regina Hollars

·        NMSS:      

·        NMSS will not be used during the summer by the LCIHA

·        A total of $4,700 was paid to NMSS for rink usage during the spring season. 

·        Discussion ensued over the proposed contract for the fall season.  The current hourly rate offered by NMSS was voted down by the BoD.  Tom Is currently writing a proposal to NMSS for the fall which includes a lower hourly rate than they have requested and the stipulation that the cost of any repairs incurred by the LCIHA be deducted from our bill.

·        East Mesa:

o       Currently is a slab and fence: no water or lights

o       Costs to improve this site were discussed

o       Cyndy suggested looking for matching funds form the city or state

 

·        Summer League

o       An informal summer league starting on 6/9/04 will occur at Meerscheidt.  The last day will be 7/29/04.

o       “Throw sticks” to choose teams, no referees but there will be adult supervision: Cyndy and Dennis have the authority to decline players if necessary

o       Each player MUST be registered with USA Hockey Inline to play during the summer: $25 for the year

o       A $1.00 donation will be requested per player per hour in lieu of a summer registration fee.  All proceeds go to the the LCIHA.

o       Wednesdays will be supervised by Cyndy

§         6-7 pm – U10

§         7-8 pm – U12

§         8-9 pm – U14

o       Thursdays will be supervised by Dennis

§         6-7 pm – U17

§         7-8 pm – O17

§         8-9 pm – O30

 

FALL 2004 SEASON

·        O30 Division was voted in by the BoD for a one season (Fall 2004) trial

 

·        Dates:

 

o       Online Registration               8/1/04 to 10/1/04

o       Onsite Registration               8/14/04

o       Assign Player to teams        8/17/04

o       Late Fees begin                    8/28/04 at $10

o       Season begins                      8/28/04

o       Regular season ends           11/13/04

o       First round of tournament     11/20/04 (off for Thanksgiving – 11/27)

o       Tournament finals                  12/4/04

 

·        LCIHA Fall Registration will be:

o       U10, U12, U14 is $25

o       U17, O17, O30 is $30

 

·        Volunteer Requirement:

o       10 hours per hockey family will be required for volunteer duties

o       Jill suggested recruiting a parent from each team to be a Team Rep to assist the coach and league (maintain current player list, procure missing registration info, etc).  Also, one of the team reps from each division will serve as a Division Rep. 

 

·        LCIHA Draft;

o       Discussion abounded about the adoption of a team draft. 

o       In conclusion, for the good of the league and the players,  a draft for U10, U12, U14, U17 divisions was voted in.  This will ensure a more even distribution of the talent.

 

·        OTHER

o       Concerns about end-of-season awards were discussed

§         To even out the awards: awards should be given to defensive players as chosen by coaches.  The stats are inconsistent and do not always show the true talent of certain players.

§         Efforts will be made to even out the awards in the future

o       Fund-Raising

§         Jill and Cyndy will work on a League Yard Sale
