MINUTES:
·
Chris
Burnham distributed the Treasurer’s report. We have approximately $1500.00 in
the PayPal account that needs to be transferred to our bank account, but the
report also does not show approximately $1500.00 of end-of the-year expenses
for awards, T-shirts, final referee wages etc. Bottom line is that we have
about $11,000.00 in the bank. We are saving the money to buy borders for the
· Tom King reported that our membership is up 100% over the last three years, and stood at 209 registered members this spring. President Tom felt that the spring season was successful overall, if a bit chaotic due to the mid-season move indoor and subsequent need to rearrange game schedules.
·
Election
of Officers: All Officers are elected by the membership and confirmed by the
BOD – since a quorum was not present at this meeting, confirmations will occur
at the next BOD meeting. Tom King went over the duties for all of the
positions. All of these are outlined in the by-laws, with the exception of the
LCIHA Liaison. Jill Williamson was elected Secretary. Philip Zakahi nominated
himself as a Youth Board member, to replace Hugo Vilchis Jr., who will no
longer be a youth next fall. The following people have expressed an interest in
serving on the Fundraising Committee: Maj. Liz Downey, Dennis Downey,
· Discussion ensued as to what we can afford to pay at NMSS in the fall, and where else we can play as a league if we are unable to reach a financial agreement with NMSS. Some options/problems discussed include:
o playing games only at NMSS and practicing elsewhere – this may prove difficult since the rink sizes are different
o playing only some leagues at NMSS (e.g. U10’s and U12’s), while others would play at the outdoor facilities – this may cause resentment among some of the older membership who prefer to play indoors
o the City may very well require us to separate our funds in the future so that we can assure that public monies are not being spent on private rental
· Tom King believes that eventually the slab at Meerscheidt will be covered and turned into a multi-use facility. We need to develop a Sport Development Committee to get more people involved at looking at our options for the long term. The current core of people volunteering for the league have their hands full with the day-to-day operation and management of the league.
·
Summer Hockey: Will be informal and at no charge
from the LCIHA, although those wishing to play will need to renew their USAHI
registration, which expires on
